Do you think 13 is too young for skydiving??
My brother wants to give my stepson skydiving lessons for his birthday. I told him I had to check with DH first, but i doubt it considering his mother won't let him use the microwave when she is not home, I don't think skydiving would even get a reply!!
Do you think its too young??

I am pretty sure that you have to be 18 to skydive. I would think that there would be a huge liability issue there for them to allow minors to participate in this kind of sport. Now that I think of it, I can remember my friends using fake ID's to go when we were 17.
I personally think 13 is too young. I think 17 should be the youngest that they allow kids to do this.
I just looked this up for out of curiosity at one place in NY: This is from www.skysthelimit.net
Is there a minimum/maximum age limit?
You must be at least 18 yrs of age to skydive. We require a valid Photo ID. There is no predefined maximum age. If you are in good health, it is likely that you can skydive. Tandem skydives have been safely made by people in their 90`s!

don't you have to be e certain age to do it or is it ok as long as you get parental consent? I would say if it were my choice I would only let my daughter do it if she was 16

I would say yes...too young.
NOT to be over dramatic...but you have so many little kids having heart attacks on ride in theme parks...I would poop my pants skydiving at 13.

Yeah, a little. I don't have kids though & I have never gone skydiving. I thougth there would be a legal age limit or a limit set by the companies that do it. I would think under 16 is too young.
And by the way, I dont'theink 13 is too young to use the microwave. That's the only thing we were allowed to use in the kitchen when my parents weren't home. The stove is much more dangerous.
ETA--I just looked it up- I think you do have to be 18 in NY. ( Are you in NY?)

The microwave thing..thats an extremely paranoid mom, no microwave, no bath mat in the shower, because it might slip out and he could fall, no shower til she is home, after he gets home from sweaty practice..the list goes on..
But anyway, my bro is an avid skydiver and he said although he is young, the guys at his place said they would do it for him.
Me personally, I am against it...but I humored my bro and asked DH, I guess the no call back from him is my answer!!

I know my DH will take our kids at 13. He loves skydiving. He wanted to take my 14 year old brother, but my mother said no. I don't think it is too young. Depends on the kid. I think it is much safer then rafting trips. I see kids on those and think the parents are nuts.

Out of curiousity I checked a skydive website and the minimum age limit is 18 regardless of parental consent.
So yes, that is def too young.
