Today
Was the day my little fussmonster was born. She came into this world with all fire and fury that has lasted an entire year, and as much as I complain about it, I would never want it any other way 
It has been the most challenging year of my life, no doubt. More tears and fights than I ever would have imagined. And, I remember being terrified during my pregnancy thinking there was no way in hell I had even an iota of maternal instincts to get me through this. Even when little Alex was born, I remember looking at this strange little creature crying like a little lamb, and thinking, ok, what is this? It took time, patience, tears, and arguments, but with each day after I brought her home from the hospital, I fell in more and more in love with her, and somehow, a year later, she has managed to twist my heart around her little finger, and when she looks at me and smiles, my heart melts into a puddle on the floor. I think about her when I wake up (well, actually, can't avoid that considering she wakes up crying bloody murder  ) I think about her while at work and smile to myself and I think about her when I fall asleep. It's amazing to me how a 23lb little ball of chub, tears and temper can elicit such emotion from me... it's been a rough time, but I've never once regretted it and I cannot fathom my life without her... happy birthday my dear, sweet Alex.
Love, your sleep-deprived, scratched, bitten, wrapped around your little finger mommy. I will love you forever.
