Non-parent question about testing before getting pregnant
I read in an article in Self magazine that women should get tested for mercury in their systems before getting pregnant. Did anyone do that? What happens if it is in your body? How do you prevent it from being in you? What got you back on course?

Hm, i didn't know about the testing. I did know though that if you are pg or TTC to minimize your mercury intake (i.e., tuna) because the mercury can harm an unborn baby's developing nervous system and could result in cognitive disorders or impairments or slow learning.

I got tested for lead but not mercury. Never heard of that test. Do you have reason to be worried about exposure? (ie, do you eat swordfish every single day)
