Anyone have opinions on Jaquar, good or bad

DH LOVES the Jaguar wagon and I must admit the interior is gorgeous but I think with a baby coming it is a little too nice. I'm leaning towards the Volvo XC 70 Cross Country, DH doesn't like it that much. Everyone tells us not to get a Jag. I'm hestitant b/c the wagon has only been out since 2005. Supposedly the safety features are as good as Volvo and we'd get a better deal as far as price. Any opinions?

I don;t know about the Jag, but I LOVE the Volvo!!! Why doesn't DH like it? I was hoping for that to be my next car.

DH doesn't like it because the interior is not as nice as the Jag, he doesn't like the body style because it is too much like an SUV (which is why I like it), it doesn't have as much horsepower,it gets less miles to the gallon, and it would be more money. Some valid points I guess. We actually didn't test drive it yet so we'll see. I've always dreamed of driving a Volvo, I just love them.

I think they used to be, but then they were bought by Ford, and now they are much better. My parents have a Jag, in fact this is their second one in 4 years, and they have never had a problem with them.

Yeah, that's what the salesman was saying. Ford owns Volvo as well. It is still manufactored in the UK but they get their parts from Germany some from Japan in the past it was primarily British parts. It is actually the same model as the Jag X model sedan (just added the wagon)

I haven't really liked the Jaguar since Ford took it over (very similar to GM taking over Saab and ruining the uniqueness)

but I recently read in Money Magazine the 3 best wagons were the Volvo, Dodge Magnum and a Mazda?

LOVE the jags! But I too have heard of lots os issues with it breaking down and not even that but the cost to fix , I would get a good warranety if going with it..

My sister just bought that Volvo...She 100% loves it, two kids, says its perfect. I saw it and didnt like the style too much..felt it was overpriced..but she has always owned volvos and never had any problems with them.

STAY AWAY FROM THE JAGS...

look beautiful for the 2 seconds you actually have it...
the car will be in the mechanics more than in your driveway!!!!!

I could have gotten one last year, s-type but we passed...

DO NOT DO IT!!! I CANNOT LET YOU DO THIS!!!
I leased (thank God, I would never have been able to sell it) a 2002 X-Type. I had sold a 97 Camry to do it and it was the worst mistake I've ever made in my entire life.

THREE DAYS after picking it up I kept hearing this intermitten noise. I bought it back THREE times and they assured me it was not a safety issueChat Icon My SO at the time (he was as unrelaiable as the Jaguar) was a doctor and he called as Dr. X wanting to take to Mr. Y (the owner). WE had to resort to that to get anyone to listen to me. I then proceeded to walk into the place with a copy of the lemon law and told them... "fix my car... do not return it to me... I don't care how many days it takes until you do this..." IT WAS THE AXLE!!!!! That is a VERY big safety issue.

Two weeks later (while doing a huge Price Club shopping) my trunk latch wouldn't stay closed. I had two separate blow outs while driving the car, my brake light stopped working after two months, there were three recalls on the car, turn signal wires were faulty, both headlights needed to be replaced, the transmission would slip every few months, the drivers side door wouldn't unlock and more than once (in a skirt) I had to climb over the passenger side into the car. I could write a book.

I have a file on the car 4 inches thick!! I bought the car a few months after 9-11 as my "You only live once purchase" and because I lost so many good friends that day. That car gave me nothing but aggrevation. Within weeks of picking up the car I knew 6 of the mechanics, the receptionist, the service manager, and several others by name.

That car was in the shop so many times I missed the qualification for lemon law by only 4 daysChat Icon
It was so unreliable I did not feel safe driving it long distances so I would rent a car or borrow one to go visit my friend in BostonChat Icon

One of my co-workers bought an S-Type and it was also a soap opera with hers.

Turning that car in was a very happy day of my life...

What you ask did I buy as my current car?....

2005 Toyota Camry. I felt like the prodigal son coming back to the father and asking for forgiviness.
I've had the car since April and funny, I haven't had to call the dealership never mind have any problems with the car.

I will never stray away from Toyota again. Over my dead body will I ever drive another Jaguar again.

Take a picture of one, it will last a lot longer.
