Kind of upset...question regarding doctors

I am back after being on a week of strict bedrest thank god! My question is this…I feel that my doctors office is really not the greatest in terms of getting back to their patients and taking time to answer serious questions.

Keep in mind, I have never bothered them about a thing until last week-I simply asked that my doctor please call me back when he had a minute b/c I had questions that the nurses were just not answering. I have yet to receive a call back and I feel they don’t take anything seriously. I had a terrible ER experience as well, and just wish I didn’t feel so badly about it all. Would you look into switching doctors at this point? I am 15 weeks. I am also living in Arlington, VA and unfamiliar with good doctors. This particular one was recommended…and while he is nice, I have seen him 10 minutes out of my pregnancy and feel like no one in the office takes time to really listen. It feels awful

Don't worry, switching at 15 weeks is nothing. I switched to a new OB at around 20 weeks, and it was a very good decision. My new doctor is so much more informative.

I would switch. Just a suggestion, we went with a midwife over a DR because of the personalized attention they give. Most Dr's tend to have a nurse or assistant call back if you are lucky enough to even get a call back. Best of luck to you!

My opinion is that if you are uncomfortable with this doc then it is NEVER to late to switch.
If you feel as though the doc is not taking you seriously now, what about later on? or if something more serious were to come up? Piece of mind is priceless to me.

SWITCH!!! The doctor is showing his true colors. IMO most doctors can handle the basic stuff- a quick office visit, a pap test. But when you NEED your doctor, that is when you see what kind of doctor this person truly is.

Ask around at work. Have your husband ask his friends who their wives used. And find one that cares about you more than this.

I agree with Michele find a practice that has a midwife. You will get more personalized attention.

Re: Kind of upset...question regarding doctors

i had a HORRIBLE experience with one group with my 1st pregnancy that ended in mc. i would have switched at around 8-10 weeks if that pregnancy had been viable, and am now with a new group with my 2nd attempt.

although i feel better with this new group, i still have my frustrations and doubts. with 2 1/2 more months to go, i don't feel it's bad enough to warrant a switch. i have also found with this group it has gotten better over time. now that i'm in my last trimester with some bumps in the road, i have received the little extra attention i was looking for.

i have heard many do sign up with a midwife/doula and she is the go between with the dr.'s to make sure you get the comfort level you are seeking. i think it's worth looking into...

Re: Kind of upset...question regarding doctors

Thank you so much to all who responded...I will look into another practice and make sure I have that comfortable and at peace feeling. There really is nothing worse than thinking an office could care less or think your problems are miniscule and unimportant...

I feel it will be a challenge to find another doctor and go through the money (we prepaid all our visits and delivery charges already) but i'm sure it'll all be worth it.

Thanks again!!
