That sweet face is all rashy...

Joseph has had all these dots on his face for 2 days now...2 doctors later and no answers. They just say it's drool irritation but it looks so bad to me!

Re: That sweet face is all rashy...

Oh his poor face Chat Icon that does not look like drool irritation to me since it's above his eyes! Could be that he's too hot? Could be dry skin? Was it an allergic reaction to something? Try cleaning his face with Aquaphor wash and keeping it dry - awe poor thing, yet he's still smiling! Chat Icon

Maybe the Aquaphor ointment could help... his cheeks look like Michael's a little chapped because of the cold, windy air we've been having... when I put that stuff on Michael's cheeks at night, by morning he's back to normal!

I hope it clears up soon!

Re: That sweet face is all rashy...

that was my concern too - that it was on his forehead...that's why I took him to another dr...but they both said the same thing. He's a BIG eye rubber when he's sleepy- maybe that's why? And he's a HUGE sweat-er. His feeties ALWAYS stink and are soaked - even without socks!

The only thing I've changed is he's always used Aveeno wash but the vanilla/lavender one. I just bought the plain one and used that - could it be why? I'm going to lower the heat (we only keep it on 69-is that high?) and see what happens.

I was leary to use the aquaphor lotion because it doesn't FEEL dry and I thought it might be better to let the air get it...am I wrong?

Re: That sweet face is all rashy...

put balmex( or any zinc oxide diaper rash cream) on his face to clear it up...

I went through something similar w/ Ryan... the ped told me drool as wellChat Icon

when ever I see the rash i put balmex on it, and I always moisturize w/ cetaphil...and use aquaphor 1x in the am
and
1x after bath...

Poor little guy! The only thing about the Aquaphor that would make me nervous is if he rubbed his forehead and then his eye. It might sting, you know?

Re: That sweet face is all rashy...

Since he's an eye rubber, that COULD make sense to me, but I still don't think so - but I am NOT a doctor... don't use the face wash on his face for now - maybe changing his wash would be the reason, but I would think he'd break out from the lavender one instead (Michael did)...

If you find that his face is too moist then don't use the Aquaphor, but there is an aquaphor body wash that I use for Michael's face only... however, I think I would try it at night, JUST a little bit to see if it clears it up.

When we're sleeping our heat is on 62-63, but during the day it's at 68 - I'm not sure if that's the problem, unless you find that he is sweating too much, then I'd definitely lower it.

ETS - Aquaphor is like vaseline - there is no medication in it like a diaper cream would have...

Re: That sweet face is all rashy...

Diaper rash cream??? Is that OK? Chat Icon What else do you think it could be? It flares (like in the pic) and then it subsides and it just looks like zits.

I would've thought the perfumed wash would be more irritating too...which is why I don't think it's the wash.

Maybe I'll try a bit of the aquaphor wash tonight in his bath.

Ahh....they were so much safer in the belly!Chat Icon

Dont' worry - you will figure this out - personally I wouldn't use diaper rash cream on his face - I've used it on his legs for dry spots, but no medicated creams on his face - I wouldnt' want to take a chance... Anyway, try just keeping it clean! I will keep my fingers crossed that it clears up by morning! Chat Icon

We're having the rash issue with Miranda all around her mouth but she's not a big eye rubber so that's probably why it hasn't spread.
Her hands are always in her mouth and drool everywhere.
I've been washing her face with Cetaphil which doesn't seem to make a difference. I put eucerin or cetaphil on the rash and that doesn't make a difference. Everyone says its normal but it looks so unpleasant.
I am going to ask at our next appointment if I can put some 0.5% hydrocortisone on it. Chat Icon

It looks like an allergic reaction to me. You said you used a different soap right? Anything else new? Detergent ,etc or have you used something new on yourself? I hope it clears up soonChat Icon

Re: That sweet face is all rashy...

Thanks girls for asking about him!Chat Icon It's no better today - actually it's worse..so off I went to the dr AAAAGAIN because I'm just not satisfied w/ what they're telling me. This dr said it's a contact dermititis (which means to me they still have no clue) and prescribed a topical steriod cream. IMO if it was just drool it wouldn't be all over his forehead and NOTHING on his chinChat Icon But today both his cheeks are covered.

Nothing has changed but the soap and I haven't used it anymore. Actually I used the aquaphor wash last night hoping it would help. I did color my hair on Sat with just a semi-perm brown but the dr doesn't think that has anything to do w/ it. I'll try the cream and hopefully it works...if not, back to the dr on MondayChat Icon

Stacey - Joseph met Teresa for the first time today and I felt so bad that she had to see him w/ this dumb rashChat Icon

It would take a lot more than a rash to take away Joseph's adorableness factorChat Icon

Danielle- Do you use baby wipes on his face? My sister's twins broke out with a rash on their faces and it was from the wipes she used to clean their faces with after they ate!

You know I used the wipes once or twice since this happened but not again since. It's just so frustrating that it could be a MILLION things and the dr doesn't have a clue and it just isn't going away...Chat Icon
