Anyone ever use castor oil to induce labor?
I was with a bunch of my girlfriends last night and thy told me at week 38 to drink some castor oil, I have heardof this befire, but befire I put my body through this I wanted to see uf anyone has ever used this form of induction, I need to get this baby out in a few weeks or I'm going to explode!!!!!

I had a client this week that said she took Castor Oil at the end & went into labor the next day!!!
She mixed it w/ orange juice but said it still tasted gross- but it worked!

I did a search online when I was pg and decided against it. Some of the side effects include diarrhea and mile-severe cramping. The last thing I wanted was to have the runs when Im in labor.

I tried everything to get labor started - except this. Just couldn't do it because it tastes so nasty. But I've heard it can work.

back on LIW, there was a recipe for eggplant parm that supposedly induced labor.....several of the mommies had eaten it and went into labor soon thereafter

Thanks so much everyone!! I think the castor oil causes the diarrhea which causes labor to begin. I think I'm going to the store to get some castor oil within the next 3 weeks!!

I have tried everything aside from drinking castor oil and giving myself an enema. I've heard that not only can it give you diarrhea, but it can make you sick to your stomach and cause you to throw up. I didn't want to put my body through this prior to labor. Besides, while it's been known to work, it may not work and then you're just making yourself sick for no reason. After trying primrose oil, black cohosh, eating fresh pineapple, drinking raspberry tea, trying that eggplant recipe, going for lots of long walks, and even having sex, I gave up. You body is NOT going to go into labor unless it's ready to. Best of luck if you do try it, but just don't be disappointed if it doesn't work.

I went a week early so never needed to, but my OB actually suggested it!
I would have tried if I was closer to my due date and still waiting.
