Need your opinions ladies!!
Do I still need to chart even if I know when I ovulate just by seeing my cervical discharge?? I looks like egg whites and I see it ever month every 14th day from my AF....and I also get ovulation pain and feel the egg being released?
would you still chart? We are starting to TTC after my May AF......

I will probably the first of many to say YES! There are many signs of ovulation that are not actually really signs and most people don't ovulate on day 14. I got pregnant on CD 22, and then CD 17 and have ovulated early in the past too. It varies between every woman. It's up to you obviously, but it takes a lot of the guessing out of the TTC journey and sometimes not charting, is the only reason people are not getting their BFP because their timing is off. I would have said no, because I also pretty much know when I ovulate. Except for this month, apparantly, I ovulated late and got my BFP. It will help you determine exactly when you concieved and will save you time and stress.

If you don't chart or know your exact day of ovulation it can cause an issue in dating a pregnancy. Ewcm is a sign that ovulation is approaching, it doesn't tell you the exact day of O....the same goes for the pains you feel. You can feel ovulation pain before O, during O or days after O. It really has more to do with the fluid being released than the egg.
It's also not uncommon for your O date to change from cycle to cycle, therefore, charting will help zero in on that.

I am biased, because of what I went through but for me personally, it was very important to know when I ovulated for my next pregnancy for dating purposes because with my miscarriage cycle, while it was random and a fluke, I knew when I had ovulated and I fell two weeks behind in my due date and for my particular case, that will be a warning for me in future pregnancy. To me, its something simple, and very helpful.

I will follow your question up with another...Lets assume you dont chart and know when you ovulate, wouldnt it still be ok if you didnt chart and bought an OPK? I wasnt really into the charting thing. I felt so confused and everyones looked like they had it down pat.

Of course it's okay! There is no right or wrong answer here - we are all expressing our opinions based on what works for us and our own experiences and knowledge. I think that is why this board is so great - its not just textbook information, its people's own experiences.

You might want to buy the OPK 2 weeks before your AF. I found it very easy to read. I know some people find other methods easier etc... If you havent tried it see what you think. I did clear blue OPKs. Good Luck to you and Lots of Babydust
