UPDATE: I think it's almost time for the ferret to go to ferret heaven
Ferrets have an average life span of 7 yrs. We have had Stinky for 7 and got him when he was 2 which makes him 9. That is very old in ferret years.
The last few days he has not eaten any food and barely drinks his water. He hasnt gone to the bathroom either.
It is really worrying me because he has lost a substantial amount of weight. I gave him fresh food and nothing. Fresh water and nothing.
I've been feeding him baby food so at least it's something and even that he is eating very little of. He just doesnt want to eat.
He still has all his energy and loves to play but he pretty much stays curled up on the bottom part of his cage and doesnt want to eat.
I think he is telling me it's his time

I'm so sorry to hear about Stinky. Is it at all possible that he has a blockage and that's why he's not going to the bathroom, etc.? I will keep him in my thoughts!

Thanks everyone. Nursing him seems to be the only response I am getting from him. He is loving the gerber chicken baby food. I know he is getting old and it's so heart breaking to see him get to thin that I feel his bones.

Thats what I was thinking because once in a while he does get IBS so I am thinking he's got the opposite now.
Looks like a vet visit is in the near future

i know whow you feel, my ferret is 9 years old, she has been fighting a adrenal glad disease (sp) for about 3 years now she keeps losing her hait and getting it back, she is so skinny but still eats normal. she's a trooper though she wont give up, she still runs around and plays like she's 3.... it's a little sad for dh & me to think of her passing, we bought her together when we first started dating 9 years ago.
i hope everything goes well.

I am so happy I came home from work and I saw him eating his food. He pooped about 3 times as well.
It's those little things that give me such a more comfortable feeling.

I get so upset when one of our ferrets and even the doggie gets sick. They cant tell us whats wrong and you do everything you can to make them better.
