Wow! Where are you headed? I thought you were thinking about going further north.

Re: Just put my house on the market yesterday

GOOD LUCK!

I'm a fellow Westchester girl - if you don't mind me asking, what town/city is your home located? (FM if you'd prefer)..

We are gradually getting back into house hunting so I've always got my eyes open for new properties (though we are also tossing around the idea of moving further North, its just too $$$ in West. Cty)

Re: Just put my house on the market yesterday

Thanks Felicia!

Right now I'm on the border of Ossining and Millwood - near where route 100 and 133 intersect (Ossining Schools). We would love to stay in the area (Briarcliff, Thornwood, Pleasantville, etc.) but we can't find anything under $600k. It's absolutely crazy! I don't want to go further from LI since that's where my family is, but we have no choice financially!!!

If you don't mind me asking - where are you now?

We have looked around up in the Ossining area, parts of it are SO very nice - I'm sure you'll have a lot of luck selling!! Chat Icon

We currently own a co-op in Scarsdale (Greenburgh/Hartsdale border really, Scarsdale PO). We are trying to sell it on our own and had a deal that fell thru, so we are listing it again soon. The apartment is nice but WAY too small (esp. since we are TTC!)

But I hear ya - Briarcliff/Thornwood/Pleasantville is just as bad as the rest of Westchester now! Its so lovely, but they are really getting soo much $$ for even 'average' sized properties and lots...so much for the prices starting to drop - uh, not!

Realistically, right now we cannot move too much further north than where you currently are (Ossining area). My husband drives to LI (Woodbury) for work .. I commute into Manhattan so there is more flexibilty on my end. AND we also don't want to move TOO far away from both sets of parents either!

Ugh, its so hard Chat Icon

Ahh Tracey, I WISH we could be neighbors!!

I would move to Putnam or even Fairfield (CT) in a heatbeat, but the issue is my darling husband and his already crummy commute... but yet I'm so sick of where we are now, its SO congested, far too expensive... so we're just trying to keep our options open and see what happens with our co-op first..

I know exactly how you feel!! We are TTC as well and right now were are right in the middle of both sets of parents. Mine in LI, his upstate - it's killing me not to be close to my mom.

Good luck with the house sale/search and TTC!!!
