baby naming
Dh and I are going to a baby naming in a few weeks. Does anyone know the proper gift to give??

It would depend on my relationship to the family - is this a close friend? A relative? I'd give based on my relationship with them, but no less than $50.

I would give either a cash gift or clothing or even a gift certificate at Babies R Us. Babies always need diapers. Most baby namings and Bris' I have gone to, have had tangible gifts now that I think about it.

If you have already given a big gift when the baby was born, I would only give a "token gift"- a cute outfit .

If they registered, something off their registry is good too... I would say about $50 or so depending on how close you are with them.

I was going to ask the same thing. I never heard of this before.
It's often used by non-religious couples or couples of some other faiths. DH and I attend a Unitarian fellowship and we will have namings for our future children.
