Root Canal
I had a root canal today and it didn't really hurt, nor does it hurt now. I still feel the novacaine. Am I in for a painful awakening tomorrow or will it really be ok as it has been this afternoon?

i've had so many root canals  and seriously, i dont think theyre as bad at allll as people make them out to be- when they take out the root, thats the part that causes the pain- so when its gone, so is the pain (in my experience anyway). i still usually take 2 advil before i get them done though, but thats more so that it doesnt hurt from the needle. If your gums feel iritated at all, just rinse with a little salt water... but no, youre not in for any major pain

I've had a couple and both times I felt fine the next day. For me, the real pain had occured prior to the RC, and the procedure got rid of the pain.

I agree take some Tylenol and you should be fine. I was fine the day after mine!

I've had a few root canals and they weren't that bad...I was eating ice cream soon after!!!
Just take some tylenol and you'll be ok. It might hurt a little bit tomorrow...but, it won't be so painful that you can't deal with it.

nah....I had one on an emergency basis and I didn't touch the Vicodin they gave me...Advil did the trick

Thanks everyone! For some reason, it is very tender this morning. The gum area and my jaw. The doctor did say the bone around the tooth was fractured - maybe that's why it hurts? Anyway, I am taking Advil and debating taking a sick day.
But I am so relieved the before-root canal tooth pain is gone!
