Question about mucus plug
I'm not sure if I should be asking this on the Parenting board or not, but I'll try here first since it is related to pregnancy.
Do you always lose the mucus plug in advance of going into labor? Or can labor (pains) start and then you lose the plug? I'm just not sure which I should be waiting for first.

No you don't have to lose it before you go in to labor.

I never lost mine the first time. My water broke and labor started a few hours later.

I didn't loose mine, and my water never broke.. the doctors broke it for me the day of...

I started having contractions last Friday, they slowly increased each day. I started to lose my plug on Tuesday, went into labor the next day.

I lost a few shreds (yuck-tmi) a few weeks before, but I was induced a day after my EDD so i'm not sure if I would have ever lost the whole thing.

I lost a little bit at a time for a whole day..I went into labor that night, my water broke at midnight!
