Quick Question about wedding and check

You would think that I would know this since I am already married, but whateverChat Icon

I know if we put both the bride and groom's name on the check, then they both have to sign it or both be present or yada, yada, yada . . . .

If you write it out to the Bride's name AND/OR the grooms name, does that remove the both having to be present issue (in the event that they do not yet have a joint account)?

TIA!

Re: Quick Question about wedding and check

I would say yeah. For us though, we didn't even sign the checks. The woman told us to put the account number on the back of the check, and that was all. And they were all written to differnt names - both original names, Mr & Mrs. His name, Mr & Mrs. Scott his middle name, etc. And the account at the time only had my name on it.

Anyway, point was, no one seemed to care. I think we could have deposited checks written to Scooby Doo.Chat Icon

if you use the word OR then either one can sign and deposit.

Re: Quick Question about wedding and check

The only ones we DIDNT have a problem with said " OR" or were made out to CASH.

Making it out to Cash imo is the easiest way to go.

Re: Quick Question about wedding and check

they can always write "for deposit only" instead of their names. and then u dont have to worry about who's name is written how when when they will endorse it.
