Re: removing wallpaper???

We're currently doing this now. In one room it came off very easily (just test a corner and see if it pulls up). The other room... Chat Icon. We've used about half a bottle of dif and managed to scrape off maybe a foot and a half worth so we're seriously considering spackling the seams and just painting over it. Luckily ours are only wallpaper borders.

Re: removing wallpaper???

Yes, it depends how the wallpaper went up. Ours was so old that is was glued right to the drywall, no primer. It was just easier (and the same price) to re-sheetrock!

Re: removing wallpaper???

I second a steamer. I still have nightmares about dif. Also get the Paper tiger it's a scorer. Don't press to hard though
ETA-you can buy one for about 20-30 bucks

I think it depends on how old the wallpaper is. We rented a steamer to take off the wallpaper in our kitchen and it made it worse! For us a combination of water, dif and elbow grease was the best option. In our bathroom and in the spare bedroom water was all we needed. On the bright side, it makes for a great arm workout. Try to pull it off as much as possible.

Steamer or

Mix a bucket 1/3 of cheap liquid fabric softener and 2/3 the hottest water you can stand. Get big sponges (the type to wash the car with) and soak the wall while another person scrapes.

Good luck and I hope there is only one layer.

Re: removing wallpaper???

Chat Icon uhh, what a pain. we did it this weekend in our hallway, so it wasn't too bad because it was a smaller space. We used "dif". we got it at the paint store and we mixed it with warm water and used scrapers.

Good Luck.
