Re: packing up the newborn and 0-3 clothing...

I donated it, and I definitely think it was the right decision. When I had DD (my first DC was a boy), my sister and sister-in-law gave me tons of clothes. I LOVED that my sister-in-law only gave me the stuff that was in good condition. I had to go through all of the stuff from my sister, and ended up getting rid of a bunch of it. We got some clothes as gifts, and I bought a few things as well. I guess if I didn't have anything else, I might have used the things that weren't in great condition, but I was lucky enough to have plenty of other things.

did you keep the questionable/pilly items or just ditch/donate them?

I ditched the stuff that was trashed and questionable.

I packed up the stuff that didn't wash well for the church and actually still have the bag -- I have to donate it. I got another bag together today so I have to make it there this week to drop off.

The stuff that was favorites and that was in good condition is in wicker baskets under her crib -- but they are rapidly filling and I am going to have to think about a more perminant storage solution for them. We barely have closet space in our small 2-br apartment!
