LIRR Q- For anyone who themselves or DH is a cop or fireman...
If you or your DH has a badge/uniform when the take the train in, do they make them pay??
My little bro started his new job at the UN and has not had to pay once on the LIRR when traveling in to work, because they see his uniform and badge. I just thought that was so cool of them. Props to the LIRR!!

I've never seen them ask any recruit, any of the miltary guys or cops for a ticket - and I've been doing this for almost 15 years. I think it's cool too.

My brother never pays on LIRR or Amtrak. He's gone to Boston and back for free a few times, and they usually upgrade him to business class!

I just spoke to my mom, he didn't even have his uniform on the just saw his badge while he was getting money out and they pushed his money back. I think that is soo nice.

Nope doesn't have to pay. My DH has a train pass that allows him to ride for free. Sometimes I get lucky and they don't charge me when I'm with him!

My husband always rides the train for free.
Now, if we could get them to pay our ridiculous EZ-Pass bill every month, I would be a very happy cop wife.

nope...they don't have to pay. just found this out recently. did you also know, that they're NOT supposed to take up a seat?

Yup, my brother always stands on LIRR and subways, but when the Amtrak ticket takers refuse his ticket and tell him to get a refund, he stays in his seat. He uses that id case for his sheild as his wallet, so I guess when he pulls out his ticket they see the shield. He changes into his uniform at work, so I don't know how they'd know otherwise.
