repost from preg. board..trisomy 18?
My friends Dr. just called and told her her results came back 1/5. She is freaken out and they are sending her for a level II tomorrow. Has anyone had such a HIGH false positive?

My friend did. She then had an amnio and everything came back fine.

She is only 32 that is why she is so upset. i opted not to have the test for this very reason

I don't remember exactly how high they were...might've been something like 1/25?? They were pretty high though because I remember being shocked when she told me and I was really worried for her.
She was 23 when she got PG.

My results were that bad. Mine were 1/5 for Down's and I have NEVER heard of such a number. Luckily for me, the morning of my scheduled amnio, an error in transcription was discovered (hello, 5 days later!!!!) and my actual results were revealed to be 1/50,000. I hope your friend is as lucky!

I just want to send prayers to your friend. I have always read about soo many false positives it is scary. But this is a serious disease and not one that would be taken lightly.
