This isnt a TTC question - more so a BCP question
I was just wondering if anyone knew whether weight gain associated with starting BCP is temporary or whether it continues throughout the use of BCP.

Re: This isnt a TTC question - more so a BCP question
back when i started ortho tricyclin i didn't gain any weight, nor did i lose any when i went off of it. Some women gain 5 pounds at the beginning while others have no side effects at all.

my doctor told me when I started BCP that weight gain is not a side effect..if you gain weight you are eating too much.....

Oh i am not saying that the pill itself made me gain weight - but rather the effect of the chemical hormones just makes me emotionally want to eat more - so of course i am gaining weight because i am eating more - that plus i'm retaining a lot of water because of the pill
Weight gain is a side effect of most BCPs for certain people - it isnt consistent but just as many people gain as people that dont gain.

I gained weight - about 12 lbs!! I switched BCP and lost it - I guess it was all wwater weight. Give your body time to adjust - if you arent happy with it switch pills

thanks for the response -- i'm giving it the full three months to adjust - that is about what i gained. My boobs have never been this huge in my life. And as much as DH must like it - i dont because none of my button down shirts fit properly anymore. Hopefully by the end of this month things will stabilize
