teachers i need help with a lesson

hello
i have to do a demo lesson for remedial 4th or 5th graders, small group of 6. The topic is Summarizing. Any fantastic suggestions?

Don't have any 'fantastic' suggestions, but it seems like a broad enough topic to have fun with. I suggest picking out a short yet fun book and doing a read aloud. Then maybe you can organize the class into pairs to discuss what they think the main idea and important details of the story are. Then discuss their responses with the class, have them put their answers on an interactive class graphic organizer (with velcro/sentence strips), and perhaps have them fill out their own as individual work. Maybe incorportate summer into it. Talk about a broad topic like summer, read a book about it or tell a story about it. Then create a summer-ish graphic organizer, like a sun, and the rays of the sun are where the kids put the summarization of the story.
