40 weeks time period question

I tried to find the information online, but couldn't find anything relevant, so I'm coming to the experts!!

I know a typical pregnancy is approximately 40 weeks. When does that 40 weeks start from... the date of conception or the date of your last period.

We were TTC for a few months and have put it on hold because we have committments that we have to keep in 9 months, so I want to start TTC again but just want to see when it wouldn't interfere with what we need to do in late November, early December.

If in an ideal world, an ideal due date would be end of January, when would I start to try again? April/May?

I swear I feel like I need to take health and biology classes again - didn't pay attention the first time I took them!!

It actually is the first day of your last period, so the week you have your period is week 1.
