Please pray for my older nephew..

As you all know, my sister is in an extremely high risk pregnancy. Thank god she's made it to week 32, due to strict bedrest, etc. She's been in and out of the hospital more times than not over this pregnancy and we never thought she would get this far. The outcome of the pregnancy is still very up in the air since there is no confirmation either way if Justin has severe birth defects or not (she refuses to have an amnio, etc.).

Last summer she m/c at nine weeks and severely hemmorhaged and passed out in the house. My nephew (who was four at the time) ran to a neighbors because he thought Mommy died on the floor. My two year old niece was present at the time as well. From all accounts, the house was covered in blood. I guess the images of his mother lying in a pool of blood on the floor are still haunting him because he is now seeing a psychiatrist due to comments/conversations he's been hearing about my sister's current condition. He started "chewing" on the sleeves of his shirt at school and destroyed about seven of them. He told the school counselor that he's afraid Mommy and his brother will die and that he will be alone in the house with his sister. He's a very observant little guy and realizes his mother's situation is serious. I'm so upset because I can't imagine he has these thoughts or burdens on his mind. The last time I talked to him, he asked me to please tell God not to let Mommy die. I didn't know what he meant at that point, because sometimes he comes out with random things that are so out there (like he thought one of the creatures from Jurassic Park was in his room, etc.).

I so wish I could get on a plane and go there My poor little cowboy!

This breaks my heart..My prayers are definatwely with your sister and your nephew!!! Is he going to a good child psychologist? Play therapy is awesome with younger children who cant necessarily express the fear they are experiencing..it allows them to find outlets to express their stress. It sounds like he can use alot of extra attention and confirmation that he is loved and that mommy will be ok. Im so sorry, this just breaks my heart.

omg that is horrible...i hope that her rest of her pregnancy and child birth goes ok. and i hope that your nephew gets better. i couldnt imagine being that young and having those thoughts in my head.

Sharon, I'm so sorry that he's so stressed out. Your poor sister must feel awful with all this going on!

Sharon, I am so sorry to hear about your nephew. I pray that your sister and the baby are both doing well...and that your nephew will not have to deal with such scary thoughts.

I'm so sorry for your family and of course your nephew. As a school psych student, I would def. reccomend sending him to a counselor. If he goes to public school he should have one in his school that he could see free of charge. It sounds like he is very anxious and worried about his mommy. It would really help him to talk to someone outside the family about his feelings.

I agree that play therapy might be one of the ways to help himout.
