Purchasing Home Improvement Items on the Internet

We have been on the hunt for tile for our kitchen backsplash.. We found tile we loved-- but it was $13.95 a sq. foot- WAY too much $$. So, we found a couple of other alternatives that work better with our budget-- DH found one- we are still waiting for the sample, that is mad cheap on the internet.

I am a little nervous to order 40 sq. feet of tile over the internet- even if it is that much cheaper.. Now, this may be a moot point if the sample is not what we wanted-- but just wanted to know if anyone else purchased items like this on the internet.

we ordered 1000sqft of hardwood flooring online (after seeing a sample). I also bought my sink and faucet online.

I almost bought our fan/hood online but paid a little ore to get it locally in case there were mecahnical problems.

With something like tile, I think you're fine. Just figure the shipping costs in, to see if you're really saving $$.

Randi I found tiles on craiglist.com. I can give you the guy's email & phone. He is in...Sayville, so you can check out the tiles yourself first... here is what he sent me most recently:
