Shower gifts
I am going to my first baby shower - and I have NO clue how much to spend on the gift (I always overspend!)
I know it depends on how close you are too, but I am just looking for the average - I have 6 friends who are expecting right now, and the first shower is at the end of this month...

If you can afford it and you want to spend about the same on every person so no one gets offended, you could spend about $50 and then buy a little something for the top of the gift - liker a teether or rattle....or a little something for the wishing well.

for a close friend I usually spend $100...At least $50 usually for anyone else....I tend to go overboard though

I go overboard too! I usually spend at least $50---but I buy over time...knowing a shower is coming...if I see something I like on sale, etc...

Same here if not more for the anyone else (again depending on who they are). Like I wouldn't spend over $50 on someone at work (who I only know thru work) but may spend over $50-100 on a wife of one of DH's friends even if I am not friends with the girl.
