Do you have a laptop or desktop?
We're thinking about getting a new computer. We are debating a laptop vs. desktop. We have a laptop now which was great in the apt, but doesn't really make much of a difference here since we have plenty of room for a desktop. Just wondering what everyone else had.

Desktop, but I don't really want a portable computer. I have one at work and one at home and I don't feel any need to be on a computer for any longer than I am in either of those 2 places.

I had a laptop. It worked for a year and then broke. sent it to Compaq and it worked for another year. Took it to be fixed they told me I needed a new hard drive Cost 400.00 it worked for another week and broke. I was told it needed a new mother board that would cost me 500.00.
So all in all. I LOVED my laptop... I loved being able to take it on vacation and loved being able to sit on the couch with it in my lap BUT not sure Id buy another one.

Desktop.
If you don't really need to be mobile, then you don't really need a laptop. You get more speed for the money with a desktop.

Both...2 of each actually LOL
But we're in the process of getting rid of the 2 desktops.
ETA: Both of our laptops are wireless so we can sit on the coach together or out on the deck, and go online. I love having the wireless laptops!
Also ETA: If you get a new desktop yuo can always run yuor laptop off it wireless.

We have both. Dh uses the laptop since he mostly surfs the web. I have a desk top since I play around with photos & do paper work..it's easier for me with a full key board.

It depends...do you need a lot of power, or do you like portability. I just got a laptop and I am in LOVE with it. I love that I'm not confined to my room. I can bring it in the kitchen while I'm watching a soup on the stove, I can sit in the yard in the summer, and for me it's especially great because I am in school and I can do work on the go! LOOOOVE it!

We both have Laptops - mine's a 4.5 yr old iBook that works GREAT. Rich has a 2 yr old Dell that's a POS.

We have both. The laptop is wireless. It's more convenient for us to have 2 computers - since DH uses it to practice songs and as a stereo. I'm a bit of a geek & use my laptop to figure out recipes, so it's in the kitchen at times. I also bring my laptop if I'm shooting a lot of pictures so I can offload the photos so the person can see them, etc.
What about just keeping the desktop you have & getting a wireless modem for a laptop?

I have a laptop, a desktop, a G5 iMac, another laptop, another desktop, i'll stop here. 
My favorite is my desktop at home... because I have a bad-a$$ hi-definition 27" LCD monitor hooked up to it. The thing is HUGE and I love it.

we haave both. We hadn't actually had a NEW computer for at least 10 years, so while there were good sales after Thanksgiving, we got a powerful desktop to do video and photo stuff, and then a good laptop so we could take it places with us. It was nice to have on our trip b/c we could take all the pics we want on our digital camera and download them to make room for more.
