Does this make any sense to you? Baby Shower related vent...
I thought I overheard DH saying something about the 18th to someone the other day so today I confronted him and asked him if my shower was going to be 6/18 because I thought it was a little too close to my EDD. I don't want my shower to be a surprise but he's been trying to make it one so I wanted to hint to him that that might be too late since I am due the following week (6/27).
Well...he says "Ha! You think THAT'S close - what about if I told you it was really the 26th!" I almost fell on the floor. What is wrong with people? Chances are I will NOT make it to the shower at all! Then what??? I have NOTHING ready for the baby to come home to!!
So I ask DH WHY OH WHY would they plan the shower for the DAY BEFORE MY DUE DATE? And he says because my MOH is busy every other weekend until then. Are you friggin kidding me?? That would be fine if SHE was organizing it or paying for it or anything along those lines, but she is NOT. My DH and my Mom are doing the whole thing and my Mom lives in Florida so that means basically my DH is doing everything alone period. Plus none of my family is coming up from Florida and none of his family is coming up from NC so it's going to be a really small shower with very few people... why cater it around HER schedule?? I could understand if we had OOTers coming in, but we DON'T. What about the fact that this baby could very well decide to come out ANYTIME after June 7th!?!
Is it just me or would you say something too? I told DH that he should tell my MOH sorry if she can't make it but we can't wait for her first free weekend without a hot date or whatever the BS excuse is (I'd love to hear it - she's been sorta flaky lately, new BF and all) because this baby can come anytime after 6/7!
Am I wrong or would you say something too?? I'm considering calling my mother too and telling her to reconsider the date (but I'm not supposed to know).

he's throwing you off!!!  although my aunt missed her shower b/c she had my cousin. but i think he's playing you. if he isn't, however, you have every right to be annoyed. you say that mom doesn't live around you. is she coming up to see you when the baby avocado is born? if so, casually mention, hint hint, that baby avocado might not want to linger inside you, hint hint and maybe she might want to make plans, hint hint, to come up sooner!

I would be totally peeved and I might have to say something to my mom if that were me. Chances are you might not make it to the shower or you may be extremely uncomfortable. I would say something.
On the other hand do you think Dh is trying to throw you off completely? My dh has done that in the past with me.
I found out this weekend is my shower and its in the late afternoon evening. I asked for it not to be a surprise becuase I hate surprises by my Moh/sil who is throwing it wants it to be but I found out because my Dad slipped. Im kind of upset that sil would make my shower for so late in the day but Dh said that was the only time avail- hopefully people will still come.

I really hope he's just saying this to try and throw you off! If it's true though, I think it's REALLY messed up that they would throw your shower the day before your due date. It's definately not a wise idea to cut it so close and it would be terribly unfair of your MOH to cater to HER schedule instead of yours. (Yours is probably a bit more important right now  ). I hope everything works out!

It sounds as if he is throwing you off. I wouldn't sweat it....what will be ....will be. But, I have a feeling it will be sooner.

Yeah I really think he's just messing with you. It probably is the 18th although it is cutting it close I think you'll probably be able to make it although youmay be a lil on the tired side. Just to be on the safe side I was just hint at your mom that you are worried that DH is waiting to long and you may not make it.

I agree....I def. think he's just trying to throw you off, but if for some reason that is the date... I totally agree with you, I wouldnt want to wait til the last minute myself!

OMG - you girls are probably right and I really FELL FOR IT!! Hard!! I mean I was pretty mad when he told me that!! And very surprised that he would agree to that!!

Yup I def. agree with the other girls!!!! I think it may still be a little close (the 18th) and he was shocked you over heard and needed to cover it up.
He totally got you Your getting slow in your pregger days j/k

6.18 is a little late too, but you never knoq, maybe they are both fakes & your shower will be Memorial Day weekend.
