Going for my first internal ultrasound tonight
do I need a full bladder? TIA
Also, I feel horrible for DH. He may have to miss it. The lastest appt they could get me was 5:45. DH has class until 5:15. Did anyone's DH miss it? I almost feel like rescheduling.

My DH missed the first one because I got it after my first appointment to ease my mind and because it wasn't planned he couldn't get out of work. I was a little bummed but it was OK. 
ETA: You shouldn't need a full bladder. They actually didn't make me have one for any of my ultrasounds.

I didn't need a full bladder for any of my internal sonos, plus I would imagine it would be very uncomfortable if your bladder were full  I think that the only time doctors like you to have a full bladder is for the external sonos -- but even for my 12 wk I didn't have to --
It does stink your DH cannot be there, but my hubby's schedule stinks also and he wasn't at my first visit either - it turned out ok! My first appt was early, 6 weeks, and they did an internal sono on me to check the viability of the pregnancy (this was mainly due to my M/C history). I saw my little bean for the 1st time and saw a hearbeat, and got pictures to take with me... so at least I was able to share that with DH when I got home

You do not need a full bladder.
As for DH - if your office is anything like mine, you'll be in the waiting room for 1 hour so he might be able to meet you there!

Thanks guys! I was thinking the same. There is no way I could hold my bladder while things were going on  I am hoping they run late. I am the last appt. of the night, so hopefully I will have some waiting room time.

No, you don't need a full bladder. Don't worry, everything will be fine. You're going to see your little bean moving around, it will be so much fun!
ETS: I am actually sort of glad that he didn't come to the internal sonos, I don't know why. but when I had the external one, I really regretted that he wasn't there.

Hi Janice..
I went yesterday and they asked that I empty my bladder before the test..my husband did go with me and we got to hear the heartbeat!! I hope your husband can make it..good luck tonight!!

thanks! I just got off the phone with him, he is sooooo down. He is going to talk to his professor. the only bad thing is that he is giving the review to the final. But in SI fashion, I can't imagine that they won't be running late with apts.
So glad you heard the heartbeat! i think it is going to be surreal.
