sexual harrassment/harassment at work?
Ok i work at a really terrible place and we had a district manager that was disgusting and harassed me and made sexual comments to me and to other women at my job. After months of holding it in I lost it and went to the president of the company and complained and the man was forced to resign a few days later, but now everything I held in is coming out and I am having anxiety issues and am wondering if I have a case against the company. Any input would be great.

IMO no you don't have any case...
It was your choice to hold it in
once you told them, they took the proper actions...
see a counselor for your anxieties

I agree with Red regarding seeing a counselor for your anxiety.
As for suing your company, the only way you'd have a lawsuit is if others complained & the company did nothing. When did they become aware of it? Did they take steps immediately?

others have complained and it took about a week for them to force him to resign. I kond of figured that since they took care of pretty quick we would have no recourse as far as suing them went, its log and complicated and so many things go on at the place that are not right, i am lookig for a new job so hopefully I will be out of there soon.
Also we were all scared to complain sooner as this man ws friends with the owner of the company, any time in that past that someone had a complaint about wrong doing they were told that they can leave and get a job else where

I should also mention that about a year ago someone from another store complained about him and i was told when I made my compliant by thr HR director that my complaint was not the first one so that means that they knew he was accused in the past and did nothing about it.

how do you know they did nothing?
just because there was a complaint doesn't mean nothing was done.
There is usually an investigative process....and it can be hard to prove since sometimes it si one persons word against another...
leaving it to be unresolved...
But now having another come forward, you, that could have proven the accusation to be more credible...
which is why they could do more this time...
In the end....i think that if you are feeling anxiety surrounding it...seek out help.
But it is my opinion that your job acted appropriately...

Is this person a supervisor? If so, an employer can be held liable for its supervisors' actions. The fact that complaints have been filed in the past also shows the company knew about this person's behavior. Consult a labor and employment lawyer to see if you have a case.

hmmm, from what I know (which is by no means alot) you cannot sue a company you currently work for.

No, you do not. You only have a case if you have informed the proper authorities at your job and they refuse to do anything. If no one is on notice of the discrimination, there is nothing they can do.

How long have people been complaining? If this has been an ongoing issue with this person for a LONG time, then yes, you may have a claim. But if these complaints have all been filed recently, and they, within a reasonable time, forced his resignation, then no, you probably don't have a claim.

really? wow I did not know that. I knew that someone tried to sue the company that my mother was the HR manager for, and when the employee went to their attorney they were told that they could not sue the company b/c they still worked there.

Perhaps it depends on what the person was trying to sue for.
You can definitely sue your employer for certain things. For example, if you get hurt on the job, you're entitled to workers' comp, and depending on the circumstances, you may be able to sue your employer for additional damages. If your employer creates a hostile work environment, you can sue for sexual harassment.

Me too. Kind of sounds like if it ever did go to court they would think you just want $$$$.
