Re: 2nd time around Bridal Shower

Is she registered? I would get something off the registry. When I had my second time around shower, I did not get any cash gists, but I did get some gift cards to spas for $75 and $100.

aren't showers in general supposed to be a one time thing?

baby showers too... I thought you only have one the first time you get pregnant. if the mother has 5 kids, does she get 5 showers? Chat Icon

yes each baby is an idividual so therefore, each baby should have their own shower. same for the bridal shower. if this is the person's 2nd marriage then yes they deserve to get A 2nd bridal shower. it's not like she's remarrying the same husband (as in renewing vows or anything of that sort) that's JMO as far as a gift i would get a GC to where she's registered, regulary shops, etc..

I would do what I normally do, which is buy a gift from her registry. 1st or 2nd if this was for someone that I cared about I wouldn't treat it any differently. I would look at is as a celebration for a happy time in that persons life.

REALLY?! I had no idea this was the norm, I don't know anyone that has has a second, third or fourth baby shower.

ETA: I have been to a 2nd bridal shower, where I was also a guest at the first. It was only a few years apart and honestly - I just didn't get it. It was a 2nd marriage for both. I got a gift from their registry.

I don't think this is the norm at all. I do know people who have had second showers, but it was when there was a huge gap in the ages of the woman's children and she had gotten rid of all the baby items she had for the first children.

I would also get something off the registry.

Re: 2nd time around Bridal Shower

I always thought that people had one baby shower, unless there were a number of years between the births of the children.

For example, my friend is having her second child, 8 years after her first and it is a girl. So, we threw her a shower.

2nd wedding showers I thought were usually smaller in size.

I agree with you. Each baby is an individual but they can still use their brother/sister's highchair, crib, etc. I'd be highly annoyed if I was invited to 4 baby showers for the same mom. I would give a baby gift when the baby was born but a shower? No way.

As for the 2nd time bridal shower, it would depend on the circumstance of the couple. Are they combining two households? For a 1st time bridal shower, I spend about $100-125. So for a 2nd time (if I was invited to the previous one), I'd spend about $50-75.
