Anyone get a new railing in their house? who from?
We need a new railing in our house (hi-ranch)
Has anyone gotten one? Iron or wood?
Where did you get it from?
We need to start looking soon and have no idea where to start.

We are getting ours installed on Friday... all oak with white poplar spindles, over the post design.
We have a colonial so the railing goes up the stairs and wraps around the opening on three sides. Sorry, I have no pics. Many of the old (70's) iron ones are no longer up to code... they are too short and the spindles are too far apart.
I would suggest you try to find some pics of what you might be looking for as it will help narrow down the choices.
If it's a straight short railing then you probably don't have many options anyway. Just post to post or over the post (one continuous railing on top of all posts) design.
Our railing will be 3K. I don't have the guys name on me though as DH handled this job.

We got a new one last summer, an iron one. We got it from Valley Ornamental Iron Works in Valley Stream. They were the 2nd people we called and gave us the better price.

We used Golden Oak on Sunrise HIghway in Bellmore. We are really happy with the job they did. The railing goes along our landing, down the stairs and then along another landing. There is a gooseneck in there too. Ours cost about 1300. Not that big a space (we have a split) so the landings were about 6.5 feet of railing and then about 7 steps or so.
We had a few companies give us quotes and they were the cheapest and we checked several of their references and they were all happy.

We just put in a new staircase, rails and ballisters in our home before we moved in. We are north of LI, but we used Blooming Grove Stair Company and we very pleased.

Glad to hear your review. I am thinking of having them come in to put new railing in my hi-ranch entry way.

He will be installing our railing tomorrow and finishing it on Monday. I'll let you know how it goes. He works with my wood floor company all of the time and has done a lot of work in our area.
Tell him you got the number from The Karps.
