Bay Shore - Lawrence Farms
Does anyone know anything about this area? DH and I are still debating whether to expand our current house or move, and we've seen a couple nice houses here. It seems like a great area, but the, shall we say, less desirable area is not far away at all. And I know nothing about the schools. Anything you can tell me will be appreciated - thanks!

Re: Bay Shore - Lawrence Farms
Is that south of Montauk? I know there is a street called Lawrence, but im not sure if its the same area. Bayshore was very nice many years ago, then it went down hill. The past few years they began rebuilding it again. There are MANY beautiful homes and blocks in Bayshore (especially south of Montauk). The SD have been improving and im sure they will continue to over the next few years. The village has some great stores and st. Patricks church is BEAUTIFULL!!! I wouldnt rule out Bayshore, but i would just make sure you do enough research on your block before you move. Like you said, not to far away can be a less desireable street. Good Luck

Lawrence Farms is south of Union, north of Montauk and just east of North Windsor Ave. There are only a few blocks that are part of it.

Re: Bay Shore - Lawrence Farms
My sister's friend lives in Lawrence Farms. She has an adorable little 2 bedroom house that I think she is putting on the market. Lawrence Farms starts just north of Montauk and I believe it actually goes as far as just south of Sunrise. It skirts Brightwaters to the West, which is beautiful. I think it's a very nice location, the homes seem very well kept and they maintain their value.
When we were buying we were considering Bay Shore. I know the schools have a bad reputation, but if you pull the school reports you will see that they are sinking a lot of money into the district. We were not too concerned about the schools because I figured, if we have children, we would probably send them to St. Patrick's or another parochial school, but bear in mind that it does reflect on the value of your home. I love Bay Shore and hope they turn it around to the great town it was in the 80's.
