sorry- i know this has been asked before but

anyone know how much it costs to convert from oil to gas?
We had no heat/hot water yesterday, so our oil company came late last nite to fix the problem..Our burner is old and he said the lines that run from our underground oil tank to the burner are probably as old as the house- and we're on a slab.
So, to change everything, get a new oil tank above ground etc will cost about $7000.

I think it will be cheaper to convert to gas..but not sure how much.

It cost us $6,000 and our house is very old too. They removed the tank, put in a new 4-gallon water tank and put in two-zone heat. We also got a radiator in the bathroom (there was none before ) and got plumbed for a gas stove and gas outside for our barbecue. They did it all in one day and it was a very dirty job, but I would highly recommend the company.

ETA: If you go to keyspan online you can fill out a form and their recommended vendors will contact you with a quote. That's how I went about it last year.

we have an electric stove..
we just need to abandon our oil tank, get rid of our oil burner,
get a new water heater and whatever is needed for gas.-lines,plumbing, etc..
