Just saw "BIG SHOT" Billy JOel Tribute Band!
THEY WERE AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too bad we got their late and it was JAMM PACKED  but I was just bopping around and singing along, they were EXCELLENT !  
I was surprised that so many people were sitting nicely in their lawn chairs, I expected everyone to be standing, cheering and singing along more (the Queens-born girl in me   )

I think that's a Billy Joel thing -- I saw the same thing at the garden. There was more chillin' to the music then the dancing & singing.
In fact one lady two rows in front of me actually grabbed an usher to tell him to make the people a few rows down from her to sit down  I felt so bad -- they looked like the only ones truly enjoying every second and now they couldn't. 
I am a jumping up & down screaming girl from Sunnyside myself

Was that the Music under the satrs band tonight at one of the parks?? I was just telling my DH that we should look and see who was playing tonight. What a perfect night to go!

I guess it was also that Ive never been to a Billy Joel concert (YET! ) and I SOOOO love his music, and I was DYING to get out of the house today (long day with 2 toddlers  )
but I TOTALLY cant contain myself when I hear music LIVE, that I LOVE LOVE LOVE.
Too bad we didnt catch "Piano Man" I would have sang along like a lunatic
My hubbys the nerd whos worried about whose view he's blocking, etc.
meanwhile HUGE-PREGGO that I am, I was holding my 3yr old (hubby was holding the 2yr old) and I was dancing, and this guy and his wife BARGED right through us, carrying their lawn chairs, no "Excuse me" no notice of my HUGE belly in a hot pink blouse
So in most cases, Im like "survival of the fittest baby" I cant worry about whose view Im blocking at a time or place like this (if others cant worry about ramming into me and my kids ) vent over

Yes, it was on the lawn at the Main Smithtown library!! I Thought it was going to be the small corner of the lawn, but it was HUGEEE, it took up the whole corner from Middle Country rd, around to 111. and it was a GORGEOUS NITE!
We sooo love living out here, we appreciate it so much more than those who have grown up here I think.. (grew up in QUeens, no offense Queens buddies ) We're not used to everything being so civilized

I believe they are playing at Mulcahys this weekend....Saturday night...they are there frequently, as well as the Nutty Irishman in Bayshore and Farmingdale. I have never seen them but a lot of people always say they are such an awesome cover band. Well you definitely had a nice night...weather was beautiful....sounds like you really enjoyed yourself

I love Big Shot! I saw them a few times at the now closed Downtown in Farmingdale. They are excellent!

they are great, I have seen them a few times - I really don't like Mulcahy's anymore, but they are the only reason I would go there.

HEY, WE WERE THERE!!!
We got there about an hour early and YES, people were rude, walking all thorough the crowd and on top of one another.
I was looking for you but at one point I turned around and there were people all the way back to the sidewalk. They estimate the crowd at over 2500 so I gave up.

on the 26th of July they are at a park in Syosset too for the Nassau Music under the Stars ,.

THeresa, AWW DARN !!! Im sorry we didnt find eachother, we actually got there close to 9 (hubby had golf after work, what a life huh ) and I didnt know how AWESOME it would be or I would have met him there  so people did get there that early WOWW !
Stacy-what proposal, aww I would have loved to see that !!
So far BIlly Joel is my favorite of the whole concert series (I think theres a BEatles, an Elvis, etc). Did they do Piano Man (Im sure they did that song makes me SCREAMMMMMM ALONG, not just sing )
We requested it at my cousins wedding (many moons ago) shes a piano/music teacher and it was kinda cute, she loved it..
So we missed Piano man last nite too...grrr. maybe I'll catch another appearance somewhere. We also didnt stay till the tail end because the boys were getting restless...

They are SO good! I've seen them play at the fair by my house. Actually for 2 years in a row the stage was set up right in front of my driveway (with the side facing us), so we sat in the back of my truck to watch- it was awesome having "front row seats"!

they are great. I saw them play last year in Port Jefferson when we were out for my friend's bahelorette party...best of all....Liberty DeVito (Billy's drummer) was playing with them.

As for the proposal, Mike Del Guidice (singer) said there was some kind of raffle giveaway in the middle of the show, so the town officials came up and called out someones name. The guy came up with his girlfriend, accepted the "gift", took pictures with the officials, and then went to the microphone and said that there wasn't really a raffle, t hat his girlfriend had loved this band for years, and proposed on stage. It was sooo cute! Then the band dedicated "Just the way you are" to the couple. It was really cute!

on the 26th of July they are at a park in Syosset too for the Nassau Music under the Stars ,.
We're going to try and go and see them when they are playing in Syosset!! Don't forget, its at Stillwell and not the community park!

Is there any other good bands coming up there?
I saw part of Evolution (Journey Tribute) last night at Newbridge Road. It was pretty good (minus the mosquitos ). I don't think they have anything else going on there, except some kiddie shows.
