Beta Levels?

Since you girls are the experts I thought I would ask...Can you count back to conception date based on Beta Levels? It is my understanding that they double (approximatley) everyday. Or if you count back do you only get to the day you were suppose to get your period.

A friend of mine took a blood test and she is preggo (yeah!) and her beta levels are 25,100. She does not have a dr.'s apt. for two more weeks, so she is just curious.

Thanks!

Re: Beta Levels?

It's kind of hard to date the conception date by dating back the beta's. Everyone doubles every 48 hours in the beginning at different rates. HCG levels can't tell you conception date since it varies from person to person, pregnancy to pregnancy. Beth (bxgell2) posted an HCG link under my post from today with the ranges.

hope that helps!

Agreed... and also, your numbers don't necessarily rise consistently. I remember when I had my blood draws early in the pregnancy, sometimes the numbers would double in a 48 hour period, sometimes in a 72 hour period... and, they start slowing down once you reach a certain level, so it's more or less impossible to date the pregnancy by HcG levels. The very best indicator is an ultrasound that will measure the size of the fetus...
