BTDT moms of catnappers...

Does it ever get any better? I can't get more than 30 minutes out of her...She will be 6 months in a few days.

Re: BTDT moms of catnappers...

I solved it by putting my kids to sleep on their bellies (firm mattrees, not stuffed animals or blankets in the crib). First I tried it on his gymini mat. It was the first time my son slept for four hours during the day. Later it was broken down to a 2-3 hour morning and afternoon nap .

Not sure if that will work b/c she really is not a big fan being on her belly...she will tolerate it for a few minutes but then she gets mad and cries like a baby!

But try it when she's sleepy, it's different. Ava does not like being onher belly to play, really, but to sleep, she loves it.

I'd love some tips too. I'll try the belly, but like ck, Isabella doesn't enjoy being on her belly. It's worth a shot.

Hate to say it, but some kids are just catnappers...Isabella is going to be a year in a few days and on her belly or back, exhausted, whatever...the MOST we have ever gotten was an hour...

She is a catnapper (40 min is her usual, 30 minutes is another special)
at daycare she is even worse, with a 25 min nap for an entire day!...

We are at 35 minute naps 3x a day at home...otherwise she is a nightmare...

that's it, I feel like she needs 4(sometimes 5) naps a day. It's so hard to work around her naps.

Noah never used to nap, but when he hit maybe 7 months, he started to need a nap at almost exactly 9.30 everyday. Now at 9.30 I watch him very closely for his tired signals and he actually has a long nap for anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes. Sometimes we lay on the sofa together, sometimes I put him down on the sofa, and sometimes he naps in the crib.

I would say that it took us a good 7 months to get to this stage, so I say keep at it, keep being really observant of his tired signals and you will get to a regular nap time!!

I feel your pain girl...Mine is the same and maybe it's just me but I just can't see the signs of tiredness...He doesn't rub his eyes or pull his ears. His activity doesn't slow down his arms and legs are always moving around.

Yes, for us it did get better. As my Daughter got older she slept more. she never slept more than 20 minutes at a time until 9 months old, then after I stopped nursing her at 16 months she started sleeping through the night and taking longer naps.

Jack was a total capnapper for the longest time. He eventually grew out of it and we slowly got on a two nap a day scedule as he got older and now at 22 months he will take 1 nap in the afternoon usually for about 3 hours.

Same here. My little one only naps from 30 - 45 mins. I do put him down when I know he is getting tired, but he just naps for short periods of time. As some of you posted, I hope it changes as he gets older. It would be nice to get 2-3 hr naps Chat Icon

Re: BTDT moms of catnappers...

The night is becoming a horror too...I tried putting him to sleep earlier at bedtime and he fell asleep but he still gets up at 4 am and that's not it...at around 1 or 2 am he is constantly tossing and turning...

I got that book healthy baby health sleep habits where it says to put a baby down for a nap after two hours of wakefulness but what if your baby is active after those two hours???

Andrew sleeps 30 mins here and there during the day but at night he is almost up to 11 hrs. I'll take that over long naps during the day anytimeChat Icon

Plus he is with family all day while I'm at work so the catnaps don't bother meChat Icon

If I had 11 hours at night I would be fine with that too. But I only get 3 or 4 hours of peaceful sleep and then after that he sleeps restlessly...and he is 3 months old today...
