How long does Jury Duty usually run for??

Im so upset, my DH had postponed his call in about 6 months ago and now recieved a summons to call in and find out where he has to serve...
Its the week before im sopposed to leave for vegas!!!! Im so upset..

How long do these things usually go on for?

Do you guys already have tickets and reservations? Will they dismiss him because of that? I thought they used to - if someone already had set travel plans.

He was taking a vacation week to watch our 2 year old while I took my 10 year old away to visit a friend in vegas..

You think he could get out of it at the courthouse if I was going away and he had to care for our child. Their is nobody else to watch him.. if hes there more then 9 days I would have to cancel.

Im so upset.. we had so many fun things planned!

I think if you can prove you are going away and that he would be the primary caregiver he may be able to postpone again. I am not 100% though

I think they give u an opportunity to excuse yourself at the courthouse.. maybe I should send him in with my plane ticket..

I know there is something about having a young child at home and being the caregiver and not having any one else to watch the child. He should try that - you wouldn't be lying. He just needs to say that his wife has to go away, tickets have already been purchased, and that he specifically took off work to watch his child - no one else can do it!

Ohhh I just remembered, I had three girls at my job all called for Jury Duty within a week of each other and they all had a # they could call to ask questions. See if there is a # you can call.

Jury duty ranges from 1 day to a couple of months.

When I first got there last week we were all in a big room. There was this guy who already postponed it 3 times and was there to postpone it again so maybe he can ask to do that.

Also there were a couple of people with plane tickets and reservations so I'm assuming they were also asking to be excused so tell him to definitely bring your plane ticket.

He might have a really good case too because of the caregiver circumstance. I know you're excused if you work under 20 hours and have kids. But you're going away and he's the only one able to tak care of your 2 year old.
