Moms of 5-6 months old...does your baby need a bottle in the middle of the night?

Julia wakes up pretty much every night any time between 2 and 4:40 for a bottle. She takes about 5-6 ounces and goes right back until aroun 7:00. Should I be giving her this bottle? Any suggestions? When do they stop needing a nighttime bottle?

I would say no. Once we moved Logan to the crib (about 4.5 months) I stopped giving him the middle of the night feeding. I would give him the pacifier and he would fall back asleep (granted if I DID feed him, he would defiantely take it). At first I had to do this about 3-4 times a night. Sometime he would be fussy and I would have to rub him for a few minutes. Now it's about 3 weeks later and he rarely gets up at all in the middle of the night anymore. If he does it's about 5:30 (when DH gets up for work) and I just put the pacifier in his mouth and he goes right back sleep until about 8:30 (he's sleeping 10-11 hours a nightChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon )

Hmmm...that makes me wonder if I should stop feeding her. I read to give them water instead of formula, but I have never heard of that!

No, at 4 months Miranda basically sleeps through the night. Sometimes she wakes up but if she gets her pacifier she goes right back to sleep so I guess she's not hungry because if she's hungry she will not take the pacifier in the place of food.

Bella will be five months in a few days and she has not woken up since she was 3 1/2 months old...knock wood...

Did you have to wean her off or did she just stop waking up for it?

I fed my baby once in the middle of the night until she was 9.5 months old, at which point I stopped. I kept hoping she would give it up on her own, but it didn't happen.

No, if I remember correctly Alex was about 4 months old when he was sleeping through the night.
