how do you "time" your baby's sleep schedule?

I look at the clock when she's eating and go from there to when she wakes up again. So for example, she at around 11:00pm last night and finally fell asleep around 12:15 and didn't wake up till 6:45am!!!

I didn't really "time" it, I let Michael dictate his feeding/sleeping schedule and eventually it worked itself out.

Personally I wouldn't keep her up until 11pm. If she has a bottle at 8 and falls asleep, I'd make 8 her "bedtime" and then feed her again at 11 if she wakes up (if that makes sense, lol)... in other words, the bottle before the 11 o'clock bottle would be her "bed time" bottle (in my house anyway) Chat Icon

She didn't stay up till 11....we had gone out to eat dinner and she had eaten around 6:30, fell asleep at the restaurant. She ate again around 8:45, fell asleep in the swing, and woke up around 11.

I let her dictate when she eats and sleeps

I don't mean you KEPT her up - I meant if she had a bottle at 8:45, then I'd put her down as if that was bed time... I HOPE you didn't actually think I meant you purposely kept her up.

Miranda kind of worked her own schedule out. Only now at 4&1/2 months are we trying to time her naps and bedtime.

Oh No...I knew you didn't mean that. But I know she won't sleep those 5-6 hours if she goes down that early. For us it's ok that she wakes up again at that hour because we know she will so we watch our shows on TiVo.

Plus we co-sleep so, at that late hour we're in bed also waiting for her to fall asleep. I'd LOVE to be able to get her down earlier to sleep that long and in the bassinett but she just won't sleep without a warm body.

I'd rather stay up late at night than wake up early in the AM.
