Anyone watch Oprah today?
Oprah did a show from the Gulf region and showed how little to no progress has been made since Hurricane Katrina. It was horrifying and terribly upsetting. These are our fellow Americans. What if this had been an act or war or terror? It is frightening to think how we, as the world's richest and most powerful country, are so unprepared and completely unable to help our own in a time of unexpected crisis.

The sad thing is that so many of our resorces are being used to help free Iraq when so many here are suffering.

I watched it. I was horrified. What is President Bush doing about all this - NOTHING. His idiot VP shoots someone hunting and that gets more press. I just wanted to go down there and help them all. The one thing that annoyed me is the people in the hotel room that were about to be kicked out - my heart when out to them when they said they didnt have enough $ for school uniforms - but it sure looked like they had enough to get their hair done!

Dh was telling me that the people who were put up in hotels are being told now that they have to leave the hotels...find some place else to live. How horrible is that. These people lost everything...their homes, their places of work were detroyed....our government has not done enough to help them.

I watched it at 1am- and I couldn't sleep- it was heart breaking to see how we are treating our fellow americans- thousands of trailers go unused while little old ladies live with no water and wholes in there roofs- childern sleep in tent cities- just horrifing
what can we do? I feel like this is not getting enough attention

I know - the stories were unbelievable...that poor 60 year old woman having to go to the bathroom in a bucket - STILL months later! Besides send money, what can we do? I wanted to go down there and start cleaning up and building everyone new homes.
