I had a work shower yesterday! And some of my most embarrassing moments!

First of all, I am so incredubly floored at the generosity of my co-workers. I received my stroller and my baby bjorn from them and the Board of Trustees of our school, which was BEYOND generous, but then, I also got an individual gift from EVERYONE on the faculty, too! I have at least another 25-30 outfits for her now and books and toys and blankets I am just so overwhelmed by how loving the women I work with are. They decorated the entire fourth floor of our school for me (it's an apartment that we use as our faculty suite). There was food and cakes and cookies and pink and white candy. Everything you can imagine. It was just amazing!



Now to the embarrassing part. Well, we have no elevators in my school since it's an old mansion, and the party was on the fourth floor, only it was a surprise, and I thought I was going to a faculty meeting. So around 2:30, my girlfriend asked me to come watch her class for a couple of minutes while she made a phone call. I got out of my chair in my room and could not move. I had stabbing, shooting pains in my right groin and I could not move. But I knew my friend needed me, so I managed to waddle up a flight of stairs to her room. By the time I got there, I was crying because I was in so much pain. So I collected myself and sat down. So I sat in her room till 3:15, when we were supposed to go to the faculty meeting. I was in so much pain that I didn't think I could make it up to the fourth floor. So my boss comes in and says to all the women there, "Well, why don't we just move the meeting in here?" And I was thinking, "Is this man kidding me? Is the f-ing meeting THAT important that they have to move it to here?" And all the women were like, "NO, that's ridiculous! She can get upstairs!" And I'm thinking, "What the F?" So, I get to the stairs with them all practically carrying me, and I try to go up them, and can't. I just couldn't. So someone says, "Crawl up them!" So stupid me CRAWLS UP THE STAIRS! So just as I think I can't hit rock bottom any MORE than that, I am on my hands and knees, look up from the stairs, and "SUPRISE!" there's everyone waiting for me taking pictures and bubbling over with excitement So my grand entrance was on my KNEES!
Needless to say, I've never been so embarrassed in my life! I ended up at the doctor's office last night because I was in so much pain, and she said she thinks it's time I stop working. So I'm finally making the decision I have been trying to avoid for weeks, and just stopping work. However, I'm just calling in sick the rest of this week, then I'll go in Tuesday and Wednesday next week and clean up my classroom, and that will be the end for me. Finally!

That was really sweet of everyone despite making you walk up 4 flights of stairs.

What a great story.
Sorry that you are feeling so bad. I know it is such a hard decision to make to stop working but I felt so much better once I did. It was so nice not to end every day in tears.

I think it is a good idea that you do stop working, you need to rest a little while before the little one comes

I'm still mortified at the crawling up the stairs part, but I work in a very small school where I know everyone extremely well, so it was all in good fun. They're all so supportive, so I figure, I'd rather be laughing at myself at this point than crying
On the upside, she moved back into the center of my belly last night, so I'm in a lot less pain today. I'm achey, but I can walk and get around. So, I'm very happy about that I didn't know it would feel THIS good to be home right now!

Thats crazy....4 floors! I betcha dont go up there regularly. I feel like I am gonna die after 1 floor. At least u had a good time.
