Tell me about these books.....
I am trying to decide which book(s) to take on vacation with me from the pile I already own.
What can you tell me about these? Would you recommend any for airplane reading?

The Shipping News - E. Annie Proulx
was the only one I have read and I wasnt that much of a fan. It was too hard for me to get into it and so it turned me off.

I read the Shipping News a long time ago, it was kind of slow to get into to.
The Pilots Wife was okay too, a quicker read.

I agree with this. I did not care for "The Shipping News." I haven't read anything else on your list.

Thanks Elbee! This is actually one of the ones I was most leaning towards. I am very facinated by the mormon religion.

the pilots wife was definitely a quick read, and very easy to get into. i found myself rushing home from work to pick up from where i left off. I read it a while ago, but if i remember correctly, the writing style got a little weaker towards the end. I mean, i was anxious to get to the ending, but then felt like everything happened so quickly (almost like she was in a rush to finish the book). Still, i thoroughly enjoyed it, and always recommend it.
but lord help DH if he ever even *tries* to be a Pilot

I absolutely loved Blue Blood...it was a very interesting read, I thought it was really well written.
I also enjoyed The Pilot's Wife.
I have The Shipping News but had a hard time getting into it and am planning to go back to it at some point.
