Can I get my hair straightened?
I am 17 1/2 weeks right now and my hair is getting a bit unruly! I've been getting the Japanese straightening for a few years now and I am almost getting desperate. I don't think I will be able to make it through the summer! I had it done last July and my hair grows about an inch a month. So as you can imagine, I have been wearing a lot of ponytails recently!

I wouldn't. There is a lot of chemicals they put on your scalp to get the effect. I would rather be safe then sorry.

My doctor told me that it is perfectly fine to get your hair japanese straigtened. I am going to have to have mine done soon too.

Oooh...how do you like the straightening???
I'm considering having it done (I'm 26 weeks) and heard it was perfectly safe. I need an easier & faster way to care for my hair once this baby arrives!

You know, I didn't even think to ask my doctor!  First instinct was to come here! 
I'm going to call the office to double check then make an appointment. After i had it done last year I convinced myself that if I got pregnant right away, I would just let my hair grow out. Neddless to say, I forgot what my hair does during the humidity of the summer! As I said above, I only wear my hair up and it looks horrible right now.
To the poster asking if I loke it. No, I don't like it. I LOVE it! It makes my hair feel smooth and silky. Unlike it ever did before.

I get mine straightened and though it is OK doctor wise---my stylist told me not to get it done!
She said that when you are pregnant your hair changes and it may not take. It might make your hair worse. She said there is a possibility of you going through the process, paying the $$ for it and your hair rejecting the chemicals.
I need it done BAD... but I'm waiting until after the baby since I don't want to risk wasting that kind of money.
