I didn't get my license until the summer before college - I was 18 and really in no hurry to drive. It's so much responsibility...to this day, I hate driving. On my first road test (yes I failed the first time) - I made a turn and the test lady said that I could have killed someone if they were on the sidewalk - mind you, I didn't go on the sidewalk...I just turned very close to the sidewalk. I'd probably fail the test again if I took it now.

I read this story this morning. What a tragedy and this poor girl has to live the rest of her life knowing she accidentally killed her mom

Just read the story again.
I'm not sure why a 15 year old would be learning how to drive...
I'm pretty sure you have to be 16 to get a permit in NJ

This is one of the worst things that a person/family would ever have to go through
My mom was hit and killed by a car and I was so unbelievably nervous learning how to drive, ten years later. My first driver's ed lesson all of the other kids in the car were zooming down the street and I was shaking doing 10 miles an hour... seriously, I didn't feel like I had control of the car... I felt like I was holding the same "weapon" that killed my mom. I told the driver's ed teacher what happened and he took me out by myself and was very understanding.
My heart goes out to that girl and her family.
I hope she gets a lot of help and support.
