How many oz did you give in the beginning? Also, when did you start to increase the amount and by how much?

In the very beginning (seems like ages ago), they took about 2 ounces every 3-4 hours. For the twins, we increased the feeing in once ounce increments. When do you do this? When they get hungry on a regular basis before the 3-4 hours are up.

The dr. told me to give Ava 2 to 2 1/2 oz. every 3-4 hours but she always seems to want more.....but she is only 10 days old.

Re: Moms who formula feed?????
After about a week - I think I did about 2oz per feeding every three hours. He was in the NIUC for a week so he came out on a pretty much perfect three hour eating schedule. I would increase a half an ounce as I saw he could handle it - my biggest clue would be when he wanted to eat before the three hour mark.

Re: Moms who formula feed?????
Some babies eat more formula than the average. My friend's son came home from the hospital eating 4 oz at a sitting. He was pretty big at birth, he's tall and lean now. He's 2.5 years old now and wears a 4T!
