Toddler Q - Mattress Pads/Protection
So DS new bed is coming on Saturday, I"m just thinking about what I'll need to protect it from accidents.
I thought I would just get him a fitted waterproof mattress pad like we have on our bed. But then I saw these vinyl zippered covers that encase the whole mattress. They also had just these pads that laid ontop of the mattress. So now I don't know what to get, maybe a combination of all of them??!!
Whats protecting your childs mattress?

Re: Toddler Q - Mattress Pads/Protection
It's not a toddler bed, but on Sarah's crib I have a fitted one and then I put one of those that lay on it over it and then the sheet. This way if she wets through the diaper, I can quickly change the sheet and top pad, and then I change the fitted one when I do her weekly bed linen change.

Don't get the section that lays on top. If they have a big accident or are sick in the middle of the night, you're dealing with a very smelly mattress. Better to have the whole thing protected.

Re: Toddler Q - Mattress Pads/Protection
I have both a vinyl mattress cover and a quilted fitted cover. The vinyl ones are cheap enough so that its not expensive to double up. But I like that the quilted one makes the bed extra comfy. My son was sick a few times one night and I was glad I had extra protection after the first round of changing the sheets and removing the quilted one for a washing. I have the same set up in my daughters toddler bed and in the crib for the new baby.
