Update on Jacob's head/neck...

Hi girls just wanted to update you on Jacob and his neck issues. I had Early Intervention come to my house yesterday to evaluate him and the woman said he passed everything with flying colors developmentally. Actually she said just by him rolling over already automatically passes him but she did all the other tasks too. She did say that his neck is a little tight on one side and she recommended i follow thru with PT. But he does not qualify thru Early Intervention so i went thru my insurance, no biggee. So today i took him for his first PT and of course he screamed his face off when the girl was stretching out his neck but he LIVED! The girl was like, "I know this must be difficult for u to watch me with him while he screams like this.." I was like, "oh dont even worry about it, he crys so much, i'm used to it, it doesnt bother me...

She said his neck isnt even that bad, its such a mild case. He holds his head steady and in the midline for the most part, but she said he has a slight tilt. And when she was stretching his neck i saw all the creases in his neck on the right side that are so red and raw from not being exposed to air. So she taught me how to stretch him at home, and i have to take him back 2x a week until further notice.

The shape of his head is sooo much better since i use that noggin nest. Its really starting to round out nicely. Well thanks to all you girls who gave me support and advice!! I'll keep you posted on Crankenstein!!!! Chat Icon

I think I joined too late to know exactly what was going on with Jacob's head/neck - but I'm glad you got some answers and that his first day of PT went well! Chat Icon

Re: Update on Jacob's head/neck...

I just have to say that I think it is so great when parents do something about things early on with thier children. I teach early childhood and so many kids come into the school system with undiagnosed problems that if treated early would probably not even exist by the time they are school age.

I am so glad that he is doing well. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
