Early sono ( 5.5 weeks)

So of course I am just thinking up reasons to be nervous (I hope that's what it is)! I went for a sono at 5.5 weeks and all we saw was the sac... no baby. Is that normal? Should I have been able to see something? Going back on the 10th for a follow up. I'm hoping to get in sooner if possible but DH really wants to be there and between his works schedule the the dr's office always being so busy, it was the best we could do. TIA ladies!

My friends preg.... Really early...and her last sono they didnt even see a sac...

They've been testing her levels every 2 days to make sure they are increasing and they are...There thinking its just an early preg.

So Im assuming..you seeing only the sac is because its early for you too....

Its not unusual - there's not much to see this early on. It amazing what a difference a few days can make. I think we were able to see the heartbeat at just over 6 weeks.

Yep, totally normal. Did they want to do another sono in a week or so for you? You might not see anything until 8 weeks. Chat Icon

Re: Early sono ( 5.5 weeks)

doc told me to come back in two weeks from the day, and that was on the 19th. couldnt get an appt that was good for us bc dh's schedule for three weeks so are going back on the 10th. im going to try and get one for next week if possible, but otherwise it looks like we'll be waiting til the 10th (will be about 9 weeks then). ok so it's normal not to see any baby yet and only see the sac. whew. that's good news. Chat Icon as always, thank you soooo sooo sooo much! the next week and a hlaf is going to be agonizing! but you ladies are helping me thru it!

Re: Early sono ( 5.5 weeks)

it is very normal at that early on to only see a sac. I think I had gone just past 6 weeks during our first PG and saw a sac, but no baby and no heartbeat. Ended up that a fetus never developed.

Stay positive and the time will go fast till the next sono!
