Re: Need hotel recommendations in Newport RI...
I stayed at the Francis Malbone House a few years ago. It's not cheap but really gorgeous Francis Malbone House
Activities: Tour the mansions and the quay area is really nice. Good restaurants and cute shops.

Re: Need hotel recommendations in Newport RI...
ive stayed at:
inn on bellevue- cheap and decent - a little far of a walk but not too bad
mariott on amerias cup ave- nice and in perfect location but expect to pay 279-349 a night
wayside guest house- nice and friendly, also a long walk but not horrible
i have heard that: the hyatt regency and the hotel viking are very nice
ttry searching on kayak.com and when you do find a hotel, make surre it is close to americas cup avenue- because some hotels say they are, but it ends up beibg a long walk and parking is a nightmare.
were going to stay at the Americas Cup Inn this labor day whic hi heard is decent.
i have been to newport a bunch of times so if you need help or advice, please let me know!

We stayed at the Ivy Lodge - it was beautiful and the breakfasts were amazing! There is also soda, cookies, fruit, etc all day long. We'd definitely stay there again.
Ivy Lodge
I also stayed at the Hyatt, which was nice. But I liked the Bed and Breakfast atmosphere better.

Re: Need hotel recommendations in Newport RI...
I've stayed at the Viking and would not recommend it...I had my senior college formal there and the rooms are small and I think it was pricey...
Loved the Marriot (which is kind of pricey)..location is on the water and convenient....There is also another hotel that we stayed at on Goats Island and it's really nice (it's either a Hyatt or Doubletree ?)
The Howard Johnson is probably the cheapest one that I stayed at and is not bad..it is across the street from Hi Li (a casino) and you would have to drive to get into the town..

We stayed at the Marriot for my cousin's wedding. It was really central to everything and I thought it was nice.
