I read somewhere that dogs don't have nearly as many taste buds as we do, so they totally can't tell that they're eating the same thing every day. I'll usually switch to a different meat flavor every time I buy a new bag though.

yea, i was switching food but my vet said it's not good to switch everytime. we landed on mighty dog but the damn cans are soo small and our "puppy" is so big i have to give him 2 at each meal Chat Icon and they come in 3 diff flavors that he likes so i guess he doesn't seem too bored. he gets a different treat at night anyway so maybe that keeps his tastebuds happyChat Icon

No, its high quality and she's completely spoiled, including her boring but fancy-a$$ food.

No. It isn't good for their digestive systems to keep switching food. They don't seem to care too much and I don't feel guilty.

I agree. That and the fact that one of Brodie's favorite treats is to eat his own poo...which makes me think his palate isn't that refined!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yup, but when I try and switch flavors he'll eat the new flavor for maybe a day and then back to the old......

yet anything I drop on the floor he'll eat..go figure!

This is true, I used to feel a little bad until I learned that a dog's sense of taste is not as refined as it's sense of smell, it's actually a lot lower than our own sense of taste. Golem only got fussy with food about a year ago, so we switched bc we found something healthier and he's been licking his bowl clean ever since Chat Icon
