I could've had my first internal this morning....
But my doctor had to go to the hospital for a delivery, so a nurse practitioner did my Group B Strep. I thought it was supposed to be an external swab of the um, rectal area (that's what my doctor had said), but it wasn't - it was internal, and vaginal. And it didn't exactly tickle either! She asked me if I wanted her to check my cervix, and I was like, no thanks! I'll just wait until next week!
Does getting an internal exam hurt? Because normally I have no problem with my regular (non-PG) internals. That Group B Strep swab though....ouch....

I had an internal Tuesday and it was QUITE uncomfortable...didn't hurt where I would want to scream out but not looking forward to another one
ETA: Oh and my Group B was how you described the nurse did yours.

Ok, well at least she didn't do something wrong! My doctor had said that the virus lives in the colon, so that's why they swab the rectal area.
And not looking forward to next week now! Maybe I'll just tell my doc that I'll pass and see him at the hospital in a couple of weeks

i thought i was going to have my 1st yesterday and was not looking forward to it.
instead i got the strep B, same as you, and was told next week will be the dreaded day  ...

Ann, don't stress about the internal. It was "uncomfortable" but it wasn't "painful"... at least for me.

When I had my Strep B with my son it was a quick swab towards the anal area, not inside?  It took a whole second to do.

My strep B was vaginal as well, it didn't hurt, it was fast like a pap. He swabbed the anal area so fast I didn't even know.
My internals have been quick, thankfully, because they are not the most pleasant. Not painful, just really a bizarre thing.... They are over so quick!

I jsut had my group B strep and I didn't notice where they did it ( I was talking) - it was very quick and painless. I've heard the internals can be a little more uncomfortable - not looking forward to it.
